Cibes Lift Group acquires Area Access Inc, a distributor of vertical lifts headquartered in Virginia, USA. With the acquisition, Cibes Lift Group expands its presence in the United States and strengthens its capacity to deliver innovative solutions to customers across the country. The addition of Area Access Inc marks Cibes’ fourth US addition to the group.
With a dedicated workforce of 56 employees spread across Richmond, Norfolk, and Manassas, Area Access delivers residential elevators, maintenance and service in the American Mid-Atlantic. Since its founding in 1983, Area Access has established a position as a key player and trusted partner in the industry. Amongst many other great projects, Area Access Inc has delivered solutions for the four latest Presidential Inaugural Stands.

Following the completion of the transaction, Area Access will be a wholly owned subsidiary of Cibes Lift Group but will maintain its strong brand, ensuring continuity and familiarity for its customers. The business will be run by Managing Director, Kenneth Hardee, who has been with Area Access Inc since 1998. Scott Hobson, current owner, and CEO of Area Access will leave the business but will support Kenneth and the business during the transition process.

The acquisition is planned to be completed during the first quarter of 2024. The addition of Area Access Inc marks the fourth US acquisition for Cibes Lift Group. Previous additions to the group include American Elevator of Atlanta (Georgia), Bella Elevators (Illinois) and Elevator Service Company (Connecticut).
