In 2025, the industry has been buzzing with major developments at air shows across the globe, where new aircraft from both the commercial and military sectors have made their debut. This article takes you through the standout air shows of the year and the latest innovations unveiled on each stage.
1. Pacific Airshow Huntington Beach 2025

Held at Huntington Beach, California, the Pacific Airshow is one of the largest aviation displays in the United States. This year it took place from 3-5 October 2025, with the headline moment being the debut of the new F-47 flight demonstration team — a next-generation fighter jet developed jointly by Boeing and Lockheed Martin.
The event also featured high-performance combat aircraft such as the F-22 Raptor, F-35 Lightning II and B-2 Spirit, along with flight displays by the Blue Angels and the Thunderbirds, which thrilled the crowds.
2. Taiwan’s F-16 Block 70 Rollout

On 28 March 2025, Lockheed Martin unveiled Taiwan’s first F-16 Block 70 at its plant in Greenville, South Carolina. The aircraft is part of an order for 66 jets that Taiwan placed in 2019.
The F-16 Block 70 is an upgraded version of the F-16V, fitted with more advanced avionics including the AESA APG-83 radar, which lets the aircraft detect targets at greater range and with far higher accuracy.
3. Aero India 2025

Aero India 2025, staged at Yelahanka Air Force Station in Bangalore, India from 19-23 February 2025, is a landmark event for Asia’s aviation industry. This year India unveiled the Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft (AMCA), a fifth-generation fighter developed by Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL).
The show also featured the LCA Tejas and Su-30MKI fighters, as well as new home-grown Indian drones such as the Ghatak UCAV, an unmanned strike drone built around cutting-edge technology.
4. Royal International Air Tattoo (RIAT) 2025

RIAT 2025, held at RAF Fairford in the United Kingdom from 18-20 July 2025, is Europe’s largest air show. This year’s highlights were the displays by the Red Arrows and the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight.
The programme also included flying demonstrations of new aircraft such as the latest Eurofighter Typhoon and the sixth-generation Tempest fighter developed by BAE Systems.
5. The B-21 Raider Unveiling

Northrop Grumman and the US Air Force have unveiled the B-21 Raider, a next-generation stealth bomber designed for the missions of modern warfare. The aircraft is built to carry nuclear weapons and is capable of flying unmanned.
The B-21 Raider made its official debut at Nellis Air Force Base Aviation Nation 2025, one of the most important US air shows of the year.
6. Advances in Military Drones
2025 has been a breakthrough year for drone technology. The US Air Force unveiled two prototype drones — the YFQ-42A from General Atomics and the YFQ-44A from Anduril Industries — unmanned combat aircraft flown under AI control.
These drones are designed to operate alongside fighters such as the F-35 and F-22, carrying out reconnaissance, strike and combat-support missions with high effectiveness.
7. China’s Drone Development
China unveiled the Feihong FH-97A strike drone at the Zhuhai Airshow 2024, capable of carrying out both air and ground attack missions. The drone can fly alongside the Chinese Air Force’s J-20 fighter squadrons and can be launched from aircraft carriers. It also supports autonomous swarm control and can work with AI to strike strategic targets with high effectiveness.
8. The Thunderbirds and KC-46 Pegasus Display

At the Barksdale AFB Air Show 2025, the US Air Force Thunderbirds put on an exhilarating flying display. The programme also included a demonstration of the KC-46 Pegasus, a new aerial refuelling aircraft developed by Boeing. The KC-46 can refuel a wide range of combat and transport aircraft in mid-air, giving it a key role in military operations that demand sustained endurance and longer range.
9. Nellis Air Force Base Aviation Nation 2025

Held at Nellis Air Force Base in Las Vegas, USA, this show featured flying demonstrations by high-performance fighters such as the F-22 Raptor and F-35 Lightning II, along with the B-21 Raider in its first public appearance. Also on display were the US Air Force’s newest drones, including the XQ-58 Valkyrie and Skyborg, both part of a networked combat concept that uses AI to command autonomous formations.
2025 has been a year full of progress in aviation technology, from the launch of next-generation combat aircraft to state-of-the-art drones.
